Questo itinerario vi porta nei luoghi che custodiscono le leggende e le figure mitologiche più curiose e interessanti. Un modo per scoprire il Friuli Venezia Giulia, visitando le sue città simbolo e scoprendo al contempo perle nascoste del patrimonio regionale. 

Verrete così a conoscenza di miti e leggende che animano la nostra storia identitaria, i racconti anche fantastici tramandati per generazioni che da sempre testimoniano il patrimonio artistico, paesaggistico, culturale nelle storie e delle tradizioni giunte fino ai nostri giorni: le tradizioni contadine e la vita dei nostri antenati in questi territori di campagna o di laguna, le ricette spesso frutto di farsi bastare il poco, il sapere riutilizzare quello che c’era con la sapienza delle mani e i sapori avvolgenti delle ricette tradizionali che hanno riempito le nostre domeniche in famiglia in casa.

Tour

Trieste

Your itinerary begins in Trieste, famous throughout the world for its elegance and Central European character. In addition to enjoying the charm of the historic center and Piazza Unità, you will visit the places that distinguish it, in a truly unusual way. In fact, the route winds through numerous legends that tell the origins of the symbols of the city. In the afternoon, you can get to know another local legend: coffee! We have organized a tasting for you in a historic venue, in operation since 1839.

You will spend the first night in Trieste, to fully experience one of the cities where the history of Italy was written.

Grado

The historic seaside village of Grado is still permeated with stories, traditions and culture today. Here you can learn about the figure of varwant, water spirits who came from the sea, unleashing storms. Before reaching the second destination of the day, stop for lunch in an excellent fish restaurant.

Aquileia

In the afternoon, move to Aquileia, another city that was instrumental in making Italy what we know today. Admire the archaeological area, with the numerous historical testimonies and don’t miss a guided tour of the Basilica of Santa Maria Assunta.

Palazzolo dello Stella

Start from Palazzolo dello Stella, where many witches and whirlwinds are said to have lived. The latter represent a personification of the atmospheric event that often plagued the area. A visit to the nearby Foci dello Stella nature reserve will allow you to get to know the lagoon up close, with its characteristic huts.

Varmo

Moving a few kilometers you will reach Varmo, still strongly linked to the figures of the benandanti. Visit the charming historic mill and treat yourself to a dinner in one of the most popular venues in the area.

Madrisio

Heading to Fagagna, you will pass through the village of Madrisio, which deserves a short stop because it is another place cloaked in legends of beneandanti.

Fagagna

Finally, reach the splendid village of Fagagna, for a visit to the House of Rural Civilization, where the interiors of your ancestors’ houses are reconstructed.

Here you can dedicate the morning to visiting the city. After lunch in a historic trattoria, you will be welcomed at the Casa delle Radici, where you will be invited to tell your travel experience through the legends of Friuli Venezia Giulia.
