From the Carnival of Venice, a symbol of creativity and history, to Asolo, “the city of a hundred horizons” as celebrated by Carducci. A journey that enchants, with masks, breathtaking landscapes, and cultural treasures.
The enchanting city of Venice is ready to host, starting in February 2025, one of Italy’s most iconic celebrations: the Carnival of Venice. Now in its 300th year, the Carnival attracts millions of tourists each year from all over the world, immersing them in a surreal atmosphere of masks and costumes. While Venice’s Carnival is the most famous, the festival extends throughout the country: every Italian region comes alive with spectacular events, turning Italy into a grand stage for culture and creativity.
Not far from the renowned lagoon city lies Asolo, a charming town in the province of Treviso, famously described by poet and writer Giosuè Carducci as “the city of a hundred horizons.” The magic of the landscape has made Asolo the perfect refuge for many foreign artists and writers, inspiring their creativity. Starting at the Zen Fountain, once used to water travelers arriving on foot from nearby towns, one reaches the historic center. Continuing along Browning Street, lined with tall buildings featuring arcades and underpasses, visitors arrive at the main square, Piazza Maggiore, where the Cathedral of Asolo and the Civic Museum stand, recounting its history.
To fully understand the name Carducci gave to this city, a must-see is the Asolo Castle, the symbol of the town. After climbing a long stairway, visitors can admire the surrounding panorama, a source of reflection and inspiration. Here too, the Carnival is celebrated, blending tradition and magic—elements that have accompanied us on our journey from the start.
