Magazine #11
Magazine #11
The eleventh issue of the magazine dedicated to Roots Tourism is now available. This monthly publication, part of the Farnesina’s project included in the PNRR, can be downloaded for free in digital format in Italian, English, Spanish, and Portuguese. It features stories of roots journeys with useful tips and encourages different types of travelers to plan their own “return” to their places of origin.
This new edition includes itineraries for San Martino di Castrozza in Trentino-Alto Adige, Mamoiada in Sardinia, and Castelseprio in Lombardy.
It also features an emotional travel report by Joe Avati, the renowned Italo-Australian comedian, who explored Calabria, the homeland of his ancestors.
Additionally, it presents the “Il Civico delle Radici” project, by the National Museum of Italian Emigration in Genoa. Thanks to a QR code placed at various locations in the city, visitors can discover the stories of Italian emigrants.
The magazine also highlights the collaboration between the Dante Alighieri Society and the National Italian American Foundation, working together to promote Italo-American culture and Italian language courses in the United States.
From the U.S., there’s an exclusive interview with John Viola and Patrick O’Boyle, hosts of The Italian American Podcast, a key reference for the Italo-American community.
This issue also includes a review of “El Árbol de la Familia / L’Albero della Famiglia”, in which Italo-Argentine Oscar Mantegari shares his journey of rediscovering his roots.
Finally, a selection of experiences across Italy for roots travelers: from a “tropical” tour in Sicily, exploring mango and fine wine, to a walk among the tallest fir trees in Italy in the Vallombrosa Forest, near Florence.
