The initiative, offered by MIB Trieste School of Management, is free of charge and designed for descendants of Italian emigrants worldwide. It consists of two months of training in English in Trieste (and Rome), followed by a three-month internship with Italian companies. The next edition begins in November.

Trieste—a crossroads of cultures and a city with many souls—has long been a place where Italians have both departed for and returned from distant lands. It is no coincidence that this cosmopolitan port city in Friuli Venezia Giulia hosts one of the most significant training programs for the descendants of Italian emigrants abroad. On November 3, the “Origini Italia” program will once again welcome participants from around the world.

Launched by MIB Trieste School of Management—founded in 1988 through the initiative of leading companies and academia—the course aims to nurture talent, develop skills, and strengthen leadership to help individuals and businesses grow. The concept is straightforward: provide knowledge in business management and entrepreneurship, while fostering professional and cultural ties with Italy, the participants’ ancestral homeland.

The program blends theory and practice. Participants attend classes, seminars, and workshops in English at MIB Trieste School of Management, then apply their learning during an internship with an Italian company. Year after year, “Origini Italia” attracts young people of Italian descent for many reasons—chief among them, the opportunity to connect with their roots in a way that strengthens the professional and managerial capacities of Italian communities abroad. It is also a way to promote collaboration between Italian enterprises and citizens of Italian heritage worldwide. Graduates often return home equipped with the skills, ideas, and contacts needed to grow their own businesses or embark on entrepreneurial ventures.

“Origini Italia” is organized by MIB Trieste School of Management and supported by the Autonomous Region of Friuli Venezia Giulia, with the patronage of the Italian Trade Agency (ITA) and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation. Thanks to the financial support of its partners and institutions, the program is entirely free of charge, including round-trip travel from the participant’s country of residence to Trieste, accommodation, and lunch on training and workdays for the entire duration of the course.
