Tour

I arrive in Montemurro, the village where storytelling is art, advertising, distinguished figures, and of course, excellent olive oil (Montemurro is the City of Oil).

Accommodation in a B&B and excursion to the Pertusillo Dam, followed by a picnic with local products.

Dinner and overnight stay in a B&B.

Second day: Visit to the village with a stop at the Casa delle Muse, a cultural center dedicated to Leonardo Sinisgalli, followed by a visit to the Olive Oil Museum for a sensory journey into the world of olive oil.

Tasting of local dishes with territory’s olive oil and wines from Val D’Agri.

Visit to the graffiti by master Antonello Leone and the works created by the School of Graffiti of Montemurro and the places of Maria Padula.

Dinner and overnight stay in a B&B.

Arrival in Spinoso, the terrace overlooking the dam.

Visit to the historic center, a true architectural gem. Its narrow and winding streets, its stone houses, and its noble palaces make Spinoso an ideal place to stroll and get lost in its alleys.

Visit to the Mother Church of Santa Maria Assunta (1583), a Latin cross-shaped church in Baroque style, which houses valuable paintings and eighteenth-century wooden altars, and to the Church of San Rocco del Popolo (19th century), home to a painting from the 20th century depicting The Holy Family with San Rocco praying (1908) by Michele Tedesco.

Traditional lunch.

Excursion in the National Park of the Lucanian Apennines.

Dinner and overnight stay in a B&B.

Visit to the archaeological area of Grumentum and the Archaeological Museum of the Alta Val D’Agri.

The archaeological area of Grumentum, near the museum, is considered the most important Roman site in Basilicata. The excavation campaigns carried out in the archaeological area of Grumentum, referred to as the “Little Lucanian Pompeii,” have unearthed the theater, the forum, the republican and imperial baths, the amphitheater, public and religious buildings, as well as some private residences and the paved flooring of a decumanus.

Lunch at a farmhouse.

Visit to the village of Grumento Nova, wandering through the narrow streets of the historic center lined with ancient palaces. The Norman castle named “San Severino” is interesting, as well as the wonderful view over the valley and the Mother Church of Sant’Antonio.
