The Italea magazine,
receive it for free

The 16th issue of the magazine dedicated to Roots Tourism is now online.
Part of the Farnesina’s project under Italy’s National Recovery and Resilience Plan (PNRR), the monthly publication is available for free in digital format in Italian, English, Spanish, and Portuguese. Each edition includes travel stories, practical tips, and suggestions for those planning a return to their ancestral places.
In this new issue, you’ll find an in-depth analysis of the prospects and trends in roots tourism, with contributions from Giovanni Maria De Vita, head of the MAECI’s Italea Project, together with national and regional coordinators.
Also featured is the presentation in Venice of the book Antonio segreto. La forza di un uomo by Nicola Vegro, which tells the story of Anthony of Padua, the migrant who became a saint.
The itineraries section takes us to Varallo in Piedmont, Maratea in Basilicata, and Caramanico Terme in Abruzzo.
We then report on the event Welcome Home in Sannio, where the topic of roots tourism took center stage.
Another highlight is an insightful interview with Claudio Diacoli, an expert who has spent over 50 years helping people reconstruct family trees and ancestral stories.
There’s also coverage of the recent agreement between Bologna and Buenos Aires, both UNESCO Creative Cities, which strengthens the cultural ties between Italy and Argentina.
Don’t miss the fascinating story of the Pozzetti family, who left Magnacavallo in Mantua at the end of the 19th century and settled in Brazil in search of a better life.
Finally, a selection of unique experiences across Italy designed for roots tourists—and much more.
