Magazine #10
The tenth issue of the magazine dedicated to Roots Tourism is now available. This monthly publication, part of the Farnesina initiative under Italy’s National Recovery and Resilience Plan (PNRR), is available for free in digital format in Italian, English, Spanish, and Portuguese. It offers practical tips and invites travelers of all kinds to reconnect with their heritage.
In this new issue, the spotlight is on the testimonies behind the newly established network of Emigration Museums, developed as part of the Italea project.
In this new issue, the proposed itineraries include: Corinaldo, the “village of the madmen” in the Marche region; Marostica, in Veneto, with its spectacular living chess game; and Muro Lucano, the “presepe village” in Basilicata.
Also featured is the presentation of the 2025 Giro d’Italia, which will start in Albania, highlighting the bond between the two countries.
There is also a focus on Roots Tourism and the Italea project by Luigi Maria Vignali, Director General for Italians Abroad and Migration Policies at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation.
The project “Le Strade più Belle d’Italia” is presented, which was showcased at the BIT in Milan in the presence of Italea. Additionally, the exhibition “En Route,” held at the Vatican Library, celebrates travel as a journey of discovery and return to one’s roots.
Sports are also covered with profiles of four Italian-American “legends.”
From the United States, there’s an interview with Mario Corry, an actor who left a small town in Calabria and made it to Hollywood.
Finally, a selection of experiences across Italy for roots tourists: from the “dinner with ancestors” in Trento to the Sardinian dance workshop in Cagliari.
