«Look to your roots»

The 12th issue of the magazine dedicated to Roots Tourism has been released. The monthly publication – part of the Farnesina’s project included in the National Recovery and Resilience Plan (NRRP) – is available for free in digital format in Italian, English, Spanish, and Portuguese. It features examples of roots journeys, practical tips, and encourages different types of travelers to plan their “return” to the places of their hearts.

This new issue opens with a tribute to Pope Francis, who passed away on April 21 at the age of 88. His death deeply affected the Italian-Argentine community, which saw in the Holy Father a symbol of its migrant history.
Also featured are suggested itineraries in Scilla (Calabria) and Campello sul Clitunno (Umbria), as well as the closing event of the first edition of the Roots Festival, which took place at the Chamber of Deputies.
Readers will also find a report on the Aosta Valley stop of the Italea project and the presentation of the book Napoli/New York – Round Trip by Professor Giuliana Muscio.
The issue highlights the new collaboration between the Farnesina and the Holy See for joint initiatives on the occasion of the Holy Year, and covers the latest working session of the General Council of Pugliesi Worldwide, which featured a focus on Roots Tourism.
Finally, there’s a selection of experiences across Italy for roots tourists: from a food and wine tour in Emilia to community initiatives in Camini, Calabria, known as the “village of hospitality.”
