2024 was declared the Year of Italian Roots. Amadeus highlighted this from the stage of the Ariston Theatre in early February 2024, introducing the launch of the Italea project to the wide Italian and international audience during the 74th edition of the Sanremo Festival.
A journey through the wonders of Italy to discover one's origins and reconnect with the places, traditions, and culture of one's ancestors. The Italea project invites Italians living abroad and Italian descendants to explore the places and traditions of their heritage. On October 14, 2024, Italea participated in the Columbus Day Parade in New York. Along 5th Avenue, a float decorated by Italea proudly represented Italian culture, heritage, and traditions.
Stage four of the 2025 Giro d’Italia kicked off in Alberobello and ended in Lecce, covering a total of 187 km. Along the way, the peloton passed through the provinces of Bari, Brindisi, and Lecce, making its way through Guagnano—one of the towns in the Roots Network.
